Jeff Brasher is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and grew
up in Trussville, Alabama. He was awarded an academic
scholarship to Jefferson State 天美传媒制片厂 College and later
attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Auburn
University. Jeff holds a master’s degree in Nonprofit
Administration from Louisiana State University in Shreveport
where he was recognized with the 2024 University Award as the
top student in that program. He is also a Certified Nonprofit
Professional by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Jeff is an Eagle Scout, earned the Scouting Professional Circle Award, and has served on several national Scouting committees and task forces including a three-time Director of the National Camping School, a counselor in the Scout Executive Certification Program, and served as a guest speaker at Scouting University for other Scouting America professionals and volunteers, and presented at the 2023 Nonprofit Academic Centers Council Conference. Jeff is also an adjunct faculty member in the Nonprofit Administration program in the College of Arts and Sciences at LSUS.
Before entering professional Scouting, Jeff was employed in the banking and wholesale food industries. He served as a District Executive in the Tukabatchee Area Council in Montgomery, Alabama from September 1993 to November 1996. He was then a Senior District Executive from December 1996 to February 1999 and was a Field Director from February 1999 to March 2002 in the Istrouma Area Council in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
In April 2002, Jeff joined the Greater Alabama Council as a Field Director in Huntsville, Alabama and in November 2007 was named Program Director in Birmingham, Alabama and in August 2008 assumed the duties of Marketing Director for the Council in addition to the Program Director responsibilities. In January 2011 Jeff was promoted to Director of Support Service within that Council. In March 2016 Jeff was named the Scout Executive/CEO in the Northwest Georgia Council in Rome, Georgia. He was named the Norwela Council Scout Executive/CEO in Shreveport, Louisiana in November 2019.
Jeff is an Advisory Board member of the Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research at LSUS where he chairs the internship and awards committees and is also a cohort mentor. He is a board member and chair of the scholarship committee of the North Louisiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, a member of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofits, and a member of both the Auburn and LSUS Alumni Associations. Jeff is a graduate of Leadership Shreveport 44 and serves on that program's leadership advisory board. He is a member of both the Krewe of Elders and the Krewe of Gemini. Jeff and his wife Auburn like being active in the community where they enjoy Mardi Gras, gardening, cooking, volunteering with animal welfare groups, attending Houston Astros baseball and Auburn University football games, and dining at Shreveport’s many great restaurants.
